Initially low-end rain chances become more elevated as the day proceeds. Temperatures in the low to mid 60s in the morning will warm into the low 70s by the afternoon, not far from Chicago's warmest Election Day of 75 degrees nearly 40 years ago in 1987.
Tuesday Skycast / Surface Map
Extensive cloud coverage will again dominate as November, typically one of Chicago's cloudiest months, will live up to its reputation. Low pressure and a cold front positioned to the west will promote a warm, southerly flow from the Gulf right into Chicago pumping in the unusual warmth.

The mild weather that dominated much of October has spilled over into the start of November, with highs much above normal through Tuesday and into Wednesday.

What a start to November! Average highs into the opening days of November will be 12 or more degrees above normal from the Great Lakes to New England.
Forecast U.S. Highs: Next 9 days
The chilly Canadian air remains mostly bottled up to the north into Canada, as warmth and moisture from the subtropical Pacific and Gulf combine with mid-level ridging to keep the mild temperature regime going through at least the first week of the month.
Forecast Average Temperature Departure: Next 2 Weeks
Through Nov. 5
Unusually warm! Full one week anomalies across the Midwest of 10 or more degrees above normal.
